One of these signs are likely familiar to many East Siders. For over 38 years NBS had been in business at 21815 Greater Mack in Saint Clair Shores. You couldn’t miss it driving or walking by. That sign also probably received many a look from those of us leaving Bommarito’s with one of their famous sub busters! Mmmmm….
For nearly four decades, NBS was a one stop shop for TV’s, VCRs, stereos and home theatres. Not to mention expert advice and consultation.
Over time, businesses evolve. They adjust with technology/innovation and sometimes completely change altogether. NBS adjusted with the growth of their business, expanding multiple times and catering to the needs of their customer and community. NBS adjusted as needed. This is part of why they enjoyed such great longevity. If you live in the Shores or the Pointes – you probably know somebody that bought a TV from NBS.
Given the astronomic growth of online TV/Video sales, coupled with the purchasing power of big box stores, NBS adjusted yet again, focusing more on the service end of the home entertainment industry. Because they were able to adjust, NBS no longer had a need for so much space in the retail end of their business.
That’s where we come in.
21815 Greater Mack will become the new home of St. Clair Shores CrossFit along with The Fort. SCS CrossFit has been in the Shores since 2014. We are a community based gym focused on improving the health/fitness of anyone willing to give it a try. Our tireless emphasis on inclusion and injury prevention have created a very welcoming environment to anyone at any fitness level, regardless of their limitations.
But we can’t support the health of our entire community without thinking about our kids.
The Fort Powered by BrandX is for our children.
BrandX is the industry leader in youth fitness and will provide a solid foundation for the health of our children that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
SCS CrossFit will be moving in very soon (Keep an eye on the website and our social media), The Fort will likely begin operations in early ’21.
I don’t know if we’ll be in business for 38 years, but we’re going to do our best. We’ll work hard to support the health of our community in any way we can, and that must include our kids.
I just hope you guys like the sign!
